Exploring themes of memory, nostalgia, and whimsy, Bittersweet creates a memory that you can hold in your hands and sit with. Featuring emerging visual artists: Lauren Bzowy, Camille Fitzgerald and Ashleigh Keller.

Artist Statement

Experiencing multiple traumatic events in childhood have made nostalgia, grief, and loss core components of Lauren’s work. Navigating these themes through recurring motifs incorporated within the narratives her works explore, Lauren creates pieces that engage the viewer as they find their own stories and meaning within them. Inspirations for her work are animals, folklore, and mythological creatures that are interwoven to create whimsical, dreamlike works of tangled, twisting fauna and flora. Her visually playful scenarios harbour a veiled turmoil that conveys her ever-changing perception of death, healing, and remembrance.
